    Admission

Immanuel Lutheran School admits, as class size allows, students of any race, color, ethnic origin, or religion. Entrance requirements are those of the State of Missouri. A child entering Kindergarten must be five by August 1. All students must have proper immunizations as established by the State.

Application for admission is accepted according to the following order: children in families currently attending the school, children of members, children with no church affiliation, children of members of sister Lutheran churches, and children affiliated with other Christian Churches as class size permits.

    Philosophy and Purposes

All who have been brought to faith in Jesus Christ are commissioned by Him to preserve and extend the kingdom of God. It is no less true for children and for a Christian Day School. It becomes a corporate responsibility when Christians gather as a Lutheran School.

Christian education - applying God's Law and Gospel to all aspects of life and learning - is a vital component of Immanuel Lutheran Church's ministry. As a Lutheran Church body, we believe that "the most effective education agencies available to the church for equipping children and youth for ministry are the full-time Lutheran preschool, elementary, and secondary schools." (1983 Convention Proceedings, Res. 1-17.) Immanuel Lutheran School works to accomplish five basic purposes.

    1. Education occurs daily in all subjects to prepare children to serve God and People through their lives. The student's faith in Christ is nurtured by the Holy Spirit through God's Word.

    2. Worship in Immanuel Lutheran School is not confined to the daily classroom devotion or to chapel worship experiences, but occurs throughout the day. Students are helped to grow in their prayer lives, learning to pray privately and corporately, whenever the needs or opportunities arise.

    3. Evangelism is always present for and through the students who attend Immanuel. Students learn to witness naturally and effectively as they observe their teachers and other staff members. Through their Christian lives, students bear testimony to each other and to their community. Students of unchurched families hear the Good News of Jesus' love and share it with their families and friends.

    4. Fellowship is enjoyed by all members of the school community. Students and staff accept one another as fellow members of the Body of Christ. They play together, support, encourage, and witness to one another. Each person's uniqueness is recognized, and individuals are helped to achieve their full potential.

    5. Service becomes a natural part of school life. The school community is led to help others not only in school but also in the community and the world. Teachers and staff encourage Christ-like compassion and love for all people. As opportunity permits, teachers, students, and parents volunteer to serve others together and separately.

Immanuel Lutheran School serves families in a variety of ways and also helps Parents carry out their parental responsibilities in Christian education.

    Attendance

In accordance with the laws of the State, all pupils are held to regular, punctual attendance. Students and parents of our school are also encouraged to be faithful in Church and Sunday school attendance. Attendance records are kept for school, church, and Sunday school.

    Accreditation and Certification

Immanuel Lutheran School is accredited by the National Lutheran School Accreditation Agency and the Missouri Chapter of Non-Public School State Accrediting Associations, both recognized by the State of Missouri.

All teachers on our staff have degrees in education and are certified by the State of Missouri. Many have advanced degrees.

    Curriculum & Instruction

We recognize each student as a unique child of God with special talents and abilities. We encourage each student to reach his or her potential. Our curriculum includes religion, reading, English, art, social studies, math, science, physical education, and music as well as choir.

    Newsnotes (Hotstuff)

The principal, Mr. Clements, writes weekly Newsnotes (entitled "Hotstuff") that are sent home each Friday. The informational bulletin informs students and parents of events and other school issues. Weekly notes, and sometimes notes even more frequent than that, are written to keep parents informed of the activities at the school.

    Computer Education

Computer instruction is provided throughout the grades. A primary and an upper grade computer lab exists. This computer lab was upgraded to Pentium Processors in 1997.

    Library

The school operates its own library. Volunteers serve as librarians. Books are checked out for one week in Kindergarten through Grade 2 and a two-week period in grades 3 through 8. Library day is Tuesday.

    Field Trips

The students of Immanuel school participate in educational experiences outside the classroom throughout the school year.

    Lunch

Hot lunches and milk are served daily and meet Federal guidelines.

    Science Lab

A science lab has been developed to house science equipment, videos, and other teaching aids.

    Chapel Services

A chapel service is scheduled once a week for students, teachers, and guests. The service is generally held Wednesday mornings at 8:00. All parents and members of the community are invited to attend. Chapel offerings are given to needy projects on a yearly basis.

    Music

Three student choirs exist within the school, the primary (grades 1-3), junior (grades 4-6) and youth (grades 7-8) choirs. The choirs sing regularly in chapel services and Sunday worship services. Upper grade students also learn to play the tone chimes. School operettas are also presented.

    Physical Education

All students have regularly scheduled physical education classes. All students in grades 5-8 wear Immanuel P.E. uniforms for all gym classes. Grades 1-6 also participate in an annual field day in Rolla, Missouri, the first Friday in May.

    Athletics

Girls in grades 5-8 may play on a school volleyball team. Girls in grades 7 and 8 can be on the cheerleading squad or pom-pon squad. The girls in grades 7 and 8 can also play Girl's Basketball. Boys in grades 5-8 have the opportunity to become members of a basketball team.

Students may not participate in extra curricular events unless they maintain acceptable conduct and a "C" average. A schedule of games and events is published. Parents and Friends are invited to attend these events and all practices.
